DCPS ELA 7 Unit 1 focuses on developing students' skills in narrative writing while building their ability to analyze how authors craft complex characters. Students explore how point of view shapes a reader's understanding of events and characters, examining the impact of first-person, third-person limited, and third-person omniscient perspectives. Through close reading and writing practice, students learn to identify character development techniques and apply these strategies to create their own compelling narratives with well-developed characters and intentional narrative perspectives.
